How to play

Moving

Drag a match with the mouse or your finger to any free edge of the grid: it snaps into place along the edge. Each match you move counts as one move; the move limit is shown above the board. Undo (Ctrl+Z) takes back the last move, and Reset (R) restores the starting position.

Removing

In Remove puzzles, click a match to remove it. Remove exactly as many matches as the puzzle says, no more and no fewer.

Squares and triangles

Closed shapes of any size count: a big 2×2 square is one more square on top of the four small ones. If the puzzle asks for 1×1 squares or small triangles, only the smallest shapes count, and no bigger ones may appear. Every match must belong to a shape: no loose matches may be left.

Equations

Digits and signs are made of matches, like on a digital display. A match can move from one digit to another or into a sign: a minus becomes a plus, a six becomes a nine or a zero. The result must be a true equation, and no number may start with a zero. In the Take One/Two/Three Away sets, matches are not moved: click a match to take it away. In the One More Match, Two More Matches and Three More Matches sets, you add matches: click the empty place where a match should go.

Largest and smallest number

The matches show a number. Move matches between its digits to make the largest or the smallest number possible within the move limit. The number keeps the same count of digits, every digit must be whole, as on a digital clock, and the number can’t start with 0. The puzzle is solved as soon as the number is the best possible.

Clock: latest and earliest time

The matches show a 24-hour digital clock, from 00:00 to 23:59. Move matches between its digits to make the latest or the earliest time possible within the move limit. Hours and minutes always have two digits, so a leading zero is fine (05:08); the colon stays in place, and every digit must be whole. The puzzle is solved as soon as the clock shows the best possible time.

Divide the Shape

The grey matches are the outline of the shape and can’t be moved. Move the matches inside so that the shape splits into the required number of parts of equal area. The area of a part is the number of grid cells in it; it is shown on the part and above the board. If the puzzle asks for identical parts, they must also have the same shape; a part may be turned or flipped over. Every match inside must separate one part from another. In the “Add Matches” sets the shape is empty: click a place inside it to lay a match there.

Shapes

The target shape is shown in a small diagram in the corner of the board. You can build it anywhere on the board, but in the same orientation, unless the puzzle allows rotating it.
